![]() ![]() Many of the characters in Star Wars believe that asteroid fields are extremely dangerous to fly through but it simply is not the case. It may be time for C-3PO to recheck his numbers. Through the movies and Bounty Hunters, nine ships have been seen entering asteroid fields, and five survived the events unscathed. Not only do both of these characters survive flying through the asteroid field but they actively fight in it as well. It's also worth noting Obi-Wan and Jango Fett's asteroid field fight during Attack of the Clones. It's unclear where Threepio is getting his research but the events from Bounty Hunters and Empire Strikes Back make this stat completely false. He claimed the odds of surviving an asteroid field are 3,720:1. ![]() Possibly the most interesting aspect of this story revolves around Threepio's statistics. When Valance awakens, Dengar successfully navigated them away from the field which 4-LOM and Zuckuss also survived. Valance was able to successfully navigate the field until Dengar knocks him unconscious so he can negotiate terms with the pursuing bounty hunters. These are the same creatures as the one that Solo landed the Millenium Falcon in during Empire Strikes Back. 4-LOM and Zuckuss continued to pursue them into the asteroid field infested with exogorths, better known as space slugs. Valance's ship suffered extreme damage as he flew through the field, which makes sense, considering he has to avoid more than just the asteroids. RELATED: Star Wars: An Iconic Bounty Hunter Just Returned to a Knights of the Old Republic Setting This caused Dengar to express his concerns similarly to C-3PO when Han decided to lose the Empire in an asteroid field in Empire Strikes Back. Valance turned the ship directly into an asteroid field. With nowhere else to turn and their ship suffering damage, Valance made a risky maneuver to escape his pursuers.
